Every world culture has a theory regarding parallel universes; and the idea that for every action you undertake, there are a variety of consequences, is hardly uncommon. However, it's hard to believe exactly how much something can be changed when you consider one, tiny - seemingly insignificant - moment in a person's life. When a choice is made, and the outcome has yet to be decided.
"How's your drink?"
"Have you poisoned me?!"
"Don't be so dramatic. It's an amnesia pill. My own recipe, with a touch of denial and a dash of retcon. Wake up tomorrow morning, you'll have forgotten everything about Torchwood. Worse still, you'll have forgotten me... Which is kind of tragic."
To think that in a split-second, a lift-altering decision can be made, and that somewhere out there, the ending was different.
Gwen never remembered Torchwood, and John Tucker was the last innocent person Suzie ever killed. However, she gave up her position of second-in-command, and Owen took his rightful place. Torchwood kept doing what they did best, and Gwen carried on working for the Police Force; blissfully unaware that Jack was still keeping an eye on her.
Now it's little over a year later, and after a brief encounter with Jack's ex-flame, 'Captain' John Hart. Jack threw work before pride and accepted the man's offer for help, convincing the Con-Artist to put his talents too better use.
But, of course, with an active Rift running through the centre of Cardiff. Spewing space-junk and aliens into the midst of ignorant Citizens. The team don't have much time to consider Parallel universes. Because, with every day comes a new challenge. And, it's up to Torchwood to overcome it, or just become:
A Stitch In Time.
